I hurt my lower back squatting a week and a half ago. I stopped doing lifting like squats and deadlifts, but the pain is still here. I have been running and playing basketball though.Should I also stop playing basketball for a while? And when wjill I be able to get back to my usual lifting?

    Eh, hard to say.

Lower back pain is very often simply a symptom of a hip problem. The back pain may subside, but if the hips still aren’t functionally sound the back pain will return when you return to lower body lifts like squats and deadlifts.

See if there is a physical therapy office in your area that will do a free consultation. Some places offer that.

Lower back pain brought on by squatting can sometimes mean your hips are out of allignment. A physical therapist would be able to determine if that is the case and help adjust them back into place if so.
