when doing cardio, is it better to start off slow or fast?

jane doe asked:

I read in an article that if you start running/jogging fast when doing cardio, it is more effective for weight loss. Which is better and more effective for weight loss? By starting slow or fast? Thanks in advance!

Starting off fast is a good way to hurt yourself!

The most effective is actually interval training. Run for 5 minutes, walk for 3, run for 5, sprint for 2… you get the idea.

But if you’ve never done cardio before please go easy on yourself.

You should start off and END slow…that is why they are called warm-ups and cool-downs!!!!!!!

    Hope this helped!

You need a warm up period and a cool down period, otherwise you will do yourself an injury! If you are running for example, start off with some stretches, then a slow gentle jog, maybe with a bit of interval sprinting if you can, then a cool down at the end with stretches – stretching is very important to avoid muscle injury.
