I wouldn’t use weights for your legs, it might screw your legs up. (Unless that was ankle weights forgot)
I’ve been doing taekwondo for a few years, but I never came across weights.
I love training with ankle weights. I feel like when I take them off I’m so much faster when I’m wearing them I feel like I just get such a better workout. However I’ve been told by many people including people that deal alot with sports injuries that training any kicking with ankle weights on is very bad for your joints. Any kicks with snap in them can ruin your knees – so I’ve been told. It hasn’t happened to me yet, but I’m in my late 20′s, maybe I’m ruining my joints for later on??
cho jae hyun is correct. weights can screw up your joints. that might be only for weights put on ankles or wrists, but its best not to take the risk. why dont you try harder in class, get more daily exersice than just walking around in weights all day.
oh yea. naruto is fictional :]
Ankle weights are fine if u just walk with them but if u plan to kick w them, NOOOOoooooo…
Dun try what Rock Lee does in Naruto!! Thats just a cartoon! No real person can don that horrible excuse of a hair style.
The reason the the joints. Killer on the knees. And once u injure yr knee, u can forget bout tkd. If u want yr legs to feel lighter, then i recommend the rubber-band training.
Look for a thick rubber strap for resisitance and tie them to yr ankle. Do knee lifts on tt. Legs will feel like feather when u remove them

I would not recommend training in TaeKwon-Do specific techiques with ankle-weights for the reasons most others have explained. The additional weight can add excessive stress to joints and can cause injury and long term damage.
The best way to improve your speed, strength, or targeting is to simply practice, practice, practice the movement you want to perfect. As your instructor has probably already advised you, it takes 1,000 reps to learn the basics, 10,000 to become competent and 100,000 to master it
Welcome to the journey lol
