Squats won’t make you butt bigger, they will tone your butt and give it a good shape, they will also work your hamstrings and tone your legs giving you a good toned out lower body.

squats train alot of muscles groups, but mainly your quads. squats will tone your glutes. you may gain some size but as a women i doubt it will be alot.

Well the difference in part, is between men and women. Men naturally have more muscle mass. When they work out, they gain muscle much more easily than women do. To really build mass, women must work out much harder than men, because their bodies don’t want to build muscle mass.

When muscle is worked, it first tightens up, appears sleeker, toned, lifted. (That’s why people say it makes your butt smaller). As you add weight and intensity to the workout, the muscle grows in bulk (gets bigger).

High reps, low weight give shape and definition.

Heavy weights, low reps build mass.

Same basic exercise, gender and application make the difference.

Squats mainly work the quad muscles. They do also work glutes. If someone has a fat a$$, squats are helpful in reducing it.

Squats will work the quads and the glutes, and to a lesser extent your calfs. it should help to define your butt and not make it any bigger than it is already. The squat is the single best exercise in the gym , and it should also help define your upper body as well. Just make sure you use correct form and you should notice changes. if you are going for more muscle mass, use free weights on your squats, if you are looking to lean out, do standing bodyweight squats or swiss ball squats on a wall, this will work more in defining the muscle. Hope this helped
