Definitely! You have no idea the kind of strain you are putting on your back without it! Always play it safe, a back injury is one of the most awful injuries.
Some argue that it is necessary while others argue that wearing one is actually a bad idea. I don’t wear one when doing squats but I dont usually try to squat a huge amount of weight (usually around 225-235 pounds) so if you are using a lot of weight you might want to look into using one.

If you are going to be using a fairly heavy amount of weight it is a very good idea to wear a belt. If your talking about getting serious with squats you need a good thick lifting belt, not a cheap thin leather one. Wearing a belt with your warm-up weights isn’t neccesary but once you get into your working sets, wear one all the time.
it depends if you’re going for high reps/low resistance (i wouldn’t, b/c you look like a tool in the health club with 1 45lb plate on each side…)
