Hey, when i go to the gym i do the basic bicep curls, chin ups bench press, dumbel flys, yet i never relly do squats, power cleans, or dead lifts. Im just started bulking and i want to gain some serious mass, so today im relly going to focus on deadlifts, power cleans, and squats. Im not going to do anything neer my max, but should i wear a belt for saftey? I dont know how good my form will be cus ive never done them before. So i dont wana injure anything should I go buy a belt or just lift anyway. Also do the belts make ur abdominals weaker?

you know what its your choice, im gyming for just over 3 1/2 years without using a belt. dont wanna brag or anything but i look sexy and good looking.
is there anyone at your gym that does these regularly???? the power clean can lead to some nasty injuries if not done correctly so be careful
as for the squats….try doing ‘front squats’ their actually much safer and your body will keep better from through the motion….and go down til your butt hits your calf….parallel is just rumor…actually more likely to hurn yourself doing that
as far as deadlifts go you usually only need one when going overly heavy…which I really dont suggest if its your first try…..try different variations(stiff leg, sumo, 1 leg) and just be careful of your posture
good luck
YESSSSSSSSSSSS. Plus dont do squats man as theyw ill destroy your knees like they did mine. If you insist on doing squats then do hack squats and better yet leg presses. A belt will prevent many injuries
There are many theories but as I read somewhere, wearing a weight belt was started by power lifters in things like Olympic games. As they where pushing the boundaries anything could happen and usually did. The belt worn in a Gym will not allow the back muscles to be worked and they tend to become weaker than the surrounding muscles ultimately leading to injury. I stopped wearing a belt ever since and never looked back. Do incline leg presses etc there much safer and do the trick. The belt tends to be an accessory for the fat guy wanting to pull the gut in and have that tapered look- The belt comes off eventually unlike the gut.
