How soon can I start my kid to do leg streight training?

For hockey, I don’t wanna turn him into hulk… I simply wan for him to be as fast as his peers on the ice. He loves it, but I’m afraid that if he is left too far behind, he will get discourage and stop loving it.
leg strength…. In hockey, you need to have explosive power in the legs.

    You could probably start him now very slowly maybe 2 a week for 20 min

    well depends how old he is..if hes still young (11 and under) dont push him to hard..but if hes older..then its fine to send him to a program for power skating or something..i usually run around 150 laps in my yard..and thats just the beginning lol. what keeps me motivated is the thought of being one of the best on my team and going pro..if he really loves hockey like u say he shouls have no problem with training..oh and at first dont make him do like 50 squats and 100 laps or something..start with something like 10 or 20, and add 2-5 everyday..and if he thinks he can do it add even more..good luck with it!..oh and i also like to watch all the hockey players that have been playing for a while at my rink..usually they always go really fast almost without effort so i follow them around at the same speed and ur legs start to burn lol.
