Has anyone tried the p90x program and how satisfied were you with it?

D K asked:

I am 155 lbs and 6 ft tall. I consider my self very athletic and have passed the p90x fitness test with ease. I am looking to put on some weight and get a more defined look. Is this the right program for my goals? How important is the diet portion of the program? I already eat relatively healthy and am conscience of my diet.

I have just started it last week and I absolutely love it. Of course, I am female and my goals are different then yours. But, I have no doubt that if you follow this program that you will be in the best shape of your life! I would guess you would put on some weight, because you will be building quite a bit of muscle. And, you will definitely get a more defined look-or ripped look!!

It is hard, though. But, I really enjoy it. It is a challenge, and you do something different every day, so I don’t get bored.

They stress that the diet part is very important. Now, I already eat healthy and I thought I didn’t need to follow that part. But, I am finding out that I am not eating enough for the workouts that I am doing. And, I am craving protein foods like crazy!! And, I have been much hungrier than usual. So, I have started to follow it. You HAVE to eat enough during this program or you will not get the best results.

And, by the way, I am already at a perfect weight, so my goal wasn’t to lose weight or gain it. I just wanted to be super fit, because I never have been, even though I have always exercised. I have started noticeing changes already in my body.

I wrote more about how the program works if you want to read about it.

I’m on my 2nd round of P90X and can confirm that this program works. If you want to build muscle it is definitely for you. As a woman, I want to be lean, so I’m doing the lean version. Just be sure to use a weight that allows you to only do 8-10 reps, and the last 3 should be difficult. I always recommend the nutrition guide. It has three different approaches and I prefer the meal plan on, with all the recipes and exactly what to eat laid out. However, you can probably use the block method since you’re probably already aware of healthy food options and portion. Refer to the guide though for healthy cooking tips and to be sure you take in enough calories with the right protein-fat-carb balance.

My husband and I both completed P90X last summer with fantastic results. We were both more sculpted and were a LOT more active and energetic. Unfortunately, we took more time off (albeit, still going to the track) but we lost some of the muscle we gained doing many of the workouts. We’re back on P90X and plan to be on it for a VERY long time. It’s by far the best fitness and nutrition program we’ve come across. I recommend it to everyone!

Like healthyes above, I’m at my ideal weight. I just wanted to be more fit and toned.
