I am a 37 year old male, 6′1, 160lbs. I consider myself very athletic, (hockey, baseball, running) but have never been able to gain weight. I would like to try this program if it will put on some muscle mass. Has anyone experienced this success? What kind of investment is really needed for it as far as weights and other equipment. Dumbells and the likes?

My dad tried it and after two weeks nothing at all had changed. I don’t think it really works if your already muscular. My dad did it for some stupid reason but he was already buff from the military. It never worked for him so I don’t know if it was just him or if it only works on fat and lazy people. I know that you stick to the regular exercise program you usually do when taking it. So if you do take it don’t change your routine.
You have to stick to the program for the way it was designed in order to get the results that you are looking for. With your ectomorph frame (tall and thin and fast metabolism) you will have awesome results with P90X…you don’t have to be fat and lazy to see results…that is quite the contrary. If you work your tail off and bring it every day for your workouts and then eat clean you will definitely see results.
If you want to gain weight, you will have to take in more calories. You will need to eat clean, b/c the hardest thing is to pack on muscle and stay ripped at the same time. You will have to toy with your nutition to make sure that you are not taking in too many carbs or you will not get ripped, but you need to take in enough carbs so that you don’t bonk out during your workouts. You will have to push yourself and make sure that you take in the right amount of protein, so that you don’t lose that muscle that you are gaining. I purchased the bowflex selectechs…all in one dumbells, but you can use any dumbells and a pull up bar or bands. Go by my blog to get more info on P90X, it talks about all the equipment and supplements needed throughout the program and beyond. If you have any more questions then please feel free to e-mail me.
Take care,
