for p90x, would it hurt to do a 2nd recovery week in a row before i start phase 2?

Probably not but don’t keep doing it week after week then you’ll probably end up doing what you’re trying to avoid doing which is hit a plateau.So you should be fine. It’s better too do the recovery than to do nothing that’ll probably hinder the program.
