Does this exercise work the same way that squats do?

I sit leaning against the wall, supporting my weight with my legs. Does that work the same way that squats would?

    don’t know if it will make the legs bigger but it is definitely used to strengthen the legs. don’t know what the exercise is called but skiers do it and it is also good for people who have knee or hip problems. might be called the wall slide
